2026 Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position in DBT and CBT for Children and Adolescents
The Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, a group psychology private practice in East Brunswick, NJ, is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for a CBT/DBT Track post-doctoral fellowship position beginning in Fall 2026 (or as soon as early 2026):
About Us
We are a passionate group of psychologists dedicated to providing personalized, research-supported clinical services for children, adolescents, and families with a range of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our care is organized into three core areas—cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and neuropsychological testing—allowing us to tailor support to a wide range of needs. We also partner with schools and organizations to provide consultations, professional development workshops, and clinical services. As an established and expanding practice, we are excited about training clinicians, cutting edge research and treatment options, and utilizing technology to make our work easier. As has been the case since our practice was launched in 2015, we prioritize the health and happiness of our team members, outstanding training, and sound work-life balance.
DBT/CBT Fellowship Position
Clinical responsibilities will be split between our DBT and CBT clients based on the candidate’s training goals and client flow. The candidate will carry cases in our comprehensive DBT Program for Adolescents (DBT-A) and and children and families (DBT-CF), and can additionally see cases young adults. DBT cases involve providing individual therapy, leading/co-leading multi-family skills group (or individual family skills), phone coaching, parent sessions, and attending consultation team. The number of comprehensive DBT cases will be collaboratively determined. Cases seen through our CBT service include youth and/or adults with anxiety and OCD, ADHD and disruptive behavior, Tourette syndrome and tics, trichotillomania, depression, feeding disorders, and autism. The candidate will also write 1-2 clinically-relevant articles for publication on our website blog, and there are opportunities to present workshops for professionals and in the community, if desired.
The ideal candidate for this position is a vibrant and dynamic clinician, eager to help youth and families, and committed to using evidence-based treatment techniques. The candidate is excited to work in a collaborative environment as a key member of the team, receive hands-on supervision, develop their niche within the practice, and work alongside experienced psychologists who are experts in their respective specialties. The candidate will be passionate about and skilled in doing DBT and possess a strong desire to contribute to a growing DBT Program.
Schedule and Availability
Our team provides services through a hybrid model that includes both in-person and virtual therapy. Based on current client needs, the clinician will be expected to offer in-person availability 2-3 days per week. To accommodate the schedules of children and adolescents, the position also requires after-school availability 3-4 evenings per week.
Benefits, Salary, and Start Date
Fellows will receive 3+ hours of individual supervision from licensed psychologists within a mentorship model and will meet with the practice director regularly to ensure that they see the cases they are passionate about and are supported as they shape their professional specialization within the practice. DBT track fellows will also participate in weekly DBT consultation team led by a Linehan-Certified DBT Clinician. Fellows will also participate in periodic didactic trainings and attend monthly “Think Tank” staff meetings to collaborate with colleagues and contribute ideas for program development.
The position includes salaried compensation as a W-2 employee, participation in our 401K program with employer match, malpractice insurance, vacation, flexible hours, full administrative support, minimal paperwork, support for the EPPP, and genuine guidance to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also provide a professional development stipend to encourage our clinicians to stay current with evidence-based practices so we can best help the clients. As your start date approaches, we’ll help to onboard you with ease and provide assistance with securing your permit (no easy task in NJ!).
Start date is the Summer or Fall 2026, with the possibility to start in early 2026. Start date is flexible for the right candidate. This is a two-year position, with the expectation of transitioning to a licensed psychologist during the second year. There is opportunity to join our team on a longer-term basis after completion of the fellowship, which has been the case for previous fellows. Additionally, there are possible opportunities for leadership roles based on experience and growth within the organization.
