2025-2026 Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position in CBT for Children and Adolescents
The Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), a well-established group private practice in New Jersey, is seeking a CBT-oriented post doctoral fellow to join our team and provide clinical services for children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
About Us
We are a passionate group of psychologists dedicated to providing personalized, research-supported clinical services for children, adolescents, and families with a range of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our care is organized into three core areas—CBT, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and neuropsychological testing—allowing us to tailor support to a wide range of needs. We also partner with schools and organizations to provide consultations, professional development workshops, and clinical services. We are excited about cutting edge research and treatment options, as well as utilizing technology to make our work easier. We prioritize the health and happiness of our team members with sound work-life balance and a strong sense of community.
Clinical Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities include providing CBT and other evidence-based treatments to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families, as well as collaborating with medical and school-based professionals, as appropriate. The breadth of cases can include individuals with anxiety, OCD, Tourette syndrome, trichotillomania, ADHD and disruptive behavior, autism spectrum disorders, social skills deficits, depression, feeding disorders, trauma, and school-based behavioral concerns. Cases are assigned based on the candidate’s training goals and areas of passion. Cases are seen both in-person and virtual. The clinician will attend monthly “Think Tank” staff meetings to collaborate with colleagues and write 1-2 clinically-relevant blog articles published on our website yearly. There are also opportunities to provide workshops for professionals and members of the community, and to provide periodic school-based consultations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is a vibrant and dynamic clinician, eager to help teens and families, and committed to using evidence-based treatment techniques. The candidate is excited to work in a collaborative environment as a key member of the team, receive hands-on supervision, develop their niche within the practice, and work alongside experienced psychologists who are experts in their respective specialties.
Though not required, we particularly welcome applicants with an interest in Tourette syndrome and tics, trichotillomania and other BFRBs, ADHD and disruptive behavior, and social skills. Prior training and experience providing CBIT, PCIT, and working with schools is a plus.
Start Date, Salary, and Benefits
Start date is anticipated to be Fall of 2025, though this is flexible for the right candidate. The position includes competitive salary, participation in our 401K program with employer match, malpractice insurance, vacation when you want, flexible hours (we pretty much do a 4-day work week), admin support, minimal paperwork, and genuine support to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also provide a professional development stipend to encourage our fellows to stay current with evidence-based practices so we can best help the clients we serve. We’ll help to onboard you to our team with ease and provide assistance with securing your permit (no easy task in NJ!).
As you are here to grow, we assign cases and provide supervision tailored to your goals. The fellow will receive 3-4 hours of individual supervision from licensed psychologists and will meet with the practice director regularly to ensure that they see the cases they are passionate about and has the schedule and volume of cases that works for them. The fellow will also attend “Think Tank” staff meetings to collaborate with colleagues and contribute ideas for program development.
There is opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis after completion of the post-doc, which has been the case for previous fellows. Additionally, there are possible opportunities for leadership roles based on experience and growth within the organization.
